EUSEW - OFFSHORE WIND TECHNOLOGIES

Sustainable energy week: session on offshore wind technologies

eusew-session

The European Union is a world leader in offshore renewable energy production and technologies and still has potential for further development in a cost-effective way. Therefore, the purpose of this session is to explain how research and innovation technologies on Offshore Wind Power can contribute to the reshaping of the European energy system needed to achieve a 55% net reduction by 2030 and reach climate neutrality by 2050.

The event will be attended by representatives of initiatives with pilots in different European areas. Specifically, there will be two projects present that are led by Iberdrola and in which ZABALA Innovation is a partner.

  • ROMEO aims to reduce operation and maintenance costs in offshore wind farms through the development of advanced monitoring strategies and systems and by analysing the actual behaviour of key wind turbine components.
  • Flagship aims to demonstrate the cost-effectiveness of a 10MW floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) to ensure LCOE reduction in the range of €40-60/MWh in 2030.

A representative of the ELICAN Project, which uses gravity foundations configured to act as a floating platform that integrates a telescopic automatic lifting tower with the complete wind turbine, will also participate.

The session is organized with the intention of providing a meeting point to showcase and discuss innovative solutions in the field of offshore wind and how key players are collaborating to accelerate the development of offshore wind capacity.

Deadline for registration: 8 October.
