Bilbao OfficeLeire Martiarena has a degree in Business and Administration from the University of the Basque Country. She works in the Social Innovation Department at Zabala Innovation.
She has oriented her career to international business and finance, mainly through her experience in the Trade Department of the Spanish Embassy in Algeria and her activity at Zabala’s office in Brussels.
At the European level, she has worked in multi-sector initiatives, such as the EIP Smart Cities & Communities as Business Models & Finance Action Cluster Manager and organising events and workshops, and supporting the day-to-day management of the INNEON project, an initiative that supports entrepreneurs to develop their eco-innovative ideas by providing advice on business models and linking them with investors. She is currently working on social impact assessment and local engagement tasks in the European projects, SINFONIA, REZBUILD and SCO2FLEX, three projects in the fields of energy efficiency and energy transition. She is also active in the IMMERSE project, a H2020 funded project, focused on research on the integration of migrant and refugee children. Leire is also involved in the ERASMUS+ funded START IN project, which aims to design a curriculum to teach inclusive and innovative entrepreneurship in schools.
