REZBUILD is organizing in the EUSEW2020 the webinar “Efficient buildings and houses: partnering for the SDGs and the EU Green Deal”
The registration process of the event, that will be celebrated on 29th of June in the framework of the 15th edition of the European Sustainable Energy Week, is already open
According to Eurostat, households represented the 27% of energy consumption in 2017, only surpassed by the industry sector. In addition, the construction sector is responsible for the 36% of the CO2 emissions in Europe. These figures show the need for a deep retrofitting of the EU building stock to reduce households’ energy consumption, together with more sustainable construction and refurbishment approaches with low environmental impact. To offer a new perspective on this, the REZBUILD project will organize a webinar on 29th of June to show how green buildings contribute to European sustainability targets. To participate in the virtual event, it is necessary to register fulfilling this form.
The webinar will be celebrated as a side event part of the Energy Days, in the framework of the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), one of the biggest events for the renewables sector in Europe. The EUSEW 15th edition will take place between the 22nd and the 26th of June under the theme ‘Beyond the crisis: clean energy for green recovery and growth’. Besides the activities scheduled during the Five-day event, the organization will extend the initiative until the end of the month with additional conferences.
The REZBUILD project, backed by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme, will have an active role in that extended programme with the organization of the webinar ‘Efficient Buildings and houses: partnering for the SDGs and the European Green Deal’, that will take place next Monday at 10:00 AM.
The webinar will address the relevance of boosting collaboration among all the stakeholders of the construction sector to promote the uptake of new and green recovery and fulfil the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).
During the session, that will bring together the main actors of the sector (tenants, house owners, architects, construction material companies and public authorities), each representative will express their view on how their respective activities have been transformed in the last five year in order to be aligned with the SGDs. The participants will also analyse which should be the next steps for the sector to fully contribute to the achievement of the European Green Deal targets.

Started in 2017, REZBUILD project’s main goal is to develop a refurbishment ecosystem based on the integration of cost-effective technologies, business models and life cycle interaction to deep Near Zero Energy Building (NZEB) renovation to diverse residential renovation typologies and interconnecting both, building renovation stages and stakeholders.
The initiative is driven by a consortium led by Officinae Verdi Group (Italy). The project is also integrated by Vias y Construcciones (Spain), MAETRICS (Italy), CARTIF (Spain), ESTIA (France), Comunidad de Madrid (Spain), Saint-Gobain Placo Iberica (Spain), ONYX Solar (Spain), SINTEF (Norway), OBOS (Norway), University of Nottingham (United Kingdom), Explodedview, Rimond (Italy), and ZABALA (Spain).

About REZBUILD
There’s a need for a deep retrofitting of the EU building stock to reduce households’ energy consumption, together with more sustainable construction and refurbishment approaches with low environmental impact. This transition is key for the achievement of the SDGs, especially the SDGs 13 (Climate Action), 11 (Sustainable cities and communities) and 12 (Responsible consumption and productions).
Households, however, are more than its energy consumption: a house is a shelter and it is a key factor to ensure health, well-being, human dignity and social inclusion. For this reason, the rehabilitation of households in Europe will not only contribute to environmental objectives, but also to reinforce human and social rights, and SDGs 1 (No Poverty) and 3 (Good Health and Well-Being). Partnering with tenants and the house owner is therefore mandatory to ensure a positive social impact.
In this scenario, the REZBUILD project aims at creating a collaborative refurbishment ecosystem focused on the existing residential building stock by implementing the Near Zero Energy Building (NZEB) renovation methodologies to facilitate the retrofit of the European Building stock.
