Enlit Europe 2022, the inclusive roadmap for energy transition

Enlit Europe 2022

Enlit Europe 2022 is part of a series of events where energy professionals from around the world come together to collaborate and innovate. It is a constantly growing, inclusive forum that addresses all aspects of the energy agenda. A community that collaborates and innovates 365 days a year to solve the most pressing energy issues. This year 2022, the event will take place from 29 November to 1 December in Frankfurt, with more than 15,000 attendees, 700 exhibitors, and 500 speakers.

The event is seen as a journey to tell the stories of the people, projects, and technologies driving the energy transition. From source to generation and from the grid to the consumer, the boundaries of the sector are blurring, and this evolution is being shaped by established players, external disruptors, innovative start-ups, and the increasingly engaged end-user.

The event brings all these people together to seize current opportunities, highlight future ones and inspire the next generation to take part in advancing the energy transition.

Zabala Innovation at Enlit Europe 2022

As an organisation that manages both European initiatives and innovation projects financed by European programmes, Zabala Innovation will be present at Enlit Europe 2022 with several of them to promote their knowledge and development and make them known to the interested public.

It should be noted that the last three projects to be mentioned (BeFlexible, DATA CELLAR, and NESOI) are part of the BRIDGE community and Zabala Innovation is involved in all of them as lead partner for communication, dissemination, and policy-making activities.

BRIDGE

BRIDGE is the European Commission initiative that brings together Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe funded projects across topics such as smart grids, energy storage, islands, and digitalisation. BRIDGE will be one of the Key players this year at Enlit Europe in Frankfurt co-organising several sessions at the European Projects Zone. BRIDGE projects will bring crucial contributions on a wide range of topics, including energy communities and digitalisation.

ETIP SNET

The European Technology Innovation Platform (ETIP), focused on smart networks is a European Commission initiative that has been created to identify R&I priorities for enhancing energy transition. We will discuss at Enlit Europe some topics such as digitalisation, flexibility, mobility, consumers, and energy communities. These topics will inform in a session at the European projects Zone and will be treated from policy and projects perspective.

BeFlexible

The project, called ‘Boosting Engagement to Increase Flexibility‘ (BeFlexible), has received €10 million in funding from the European Commission through the Horizon Europe programme. Over its 4-year duration, BeFlexible will aim to increase the flexibility of the energy system, improve cooperation between Distribution System Operators (DSOs) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and facilitate the engagement of all energy-related stakeholders. It will be located at the New Bridge Projects corner in the European projects area.

DATA CELLAR

The objective of the Horizon Europe-funded project ‘Data Hub for the Creation of Energy communities at Local Level and to Advance Research on them‘ (DATA CELLAR) is to create a federated energy data space to support the creation, development, and management of LECs (Local Energy Communities) in the EU. In its 42 months of work and with its budget of almost €9 million it will develop a dynamic and interoperable energy-oriented data platform to support the adoption of Energy Communities by leveraging a blockchain-based tokenisation scheme for remuneration in the data provisioning/acquisition cycle and pre-trained AI models. As BeFlexible, it will be located at the New Bridge Projects corner in the European projects area.

NESOI

The ‘New Energy Solutions Optimised for Islands’ (NESOI) project aims to unlock the potential of EU islands to integrate the European Energy Transition. It works on green energy investments with an audience of 2,400 inhabited EU islands, allowing the testing of innovative energy technologies and approaches competitively. It is a project funded by Horizon 2020 with €10 million to realise more than 20 Energy Transition Action Plans. NESOI will be located in the same area as the other two projects and will join the panel session ‘Smart and Green Energy communities’ to present its results.
