CIRCUSOL: Consortium meeting reflects on the successful 1st phase of the project

The experts from PV and battery value chains together with the professionals from research centres and universities joined forces to discuss the advances of the Horizon 2020 project CIRCUSOL.

The coordinator Tom Rommes from VITO presented the CIRCUSOL’s vision for a circular solar power system which:

  • embraces the bigger picture,
  • is resource responsible,
  • embraces resilience towards future micro-economic shocks & policy shifts,
  • is accessible and desirable for all,
  • embraces transparency over the entire value network.

Aligned with EU Green Deal objectives, CIRCUSOL co-creates circular business model for the solar industry. Economically and environmentally feasible circular service models in demonstrators are being developed together with an applicable toolbox for that support. The demo sites in which CIRCUSOL demonstrates its findings are Cloverleaf, Cohousing Waasland, Scalling PSS Demo, REScoop PV.

As the project advances, the dissemination activities are emphasized. Participation in the sector important events is expected and will be fostered. CIRCUSOL website has been translated to French, Dutch, and German. ZABALA is in charge of communication and dissemination together with Lund University.

Moreover, CIRCUSOL welcomed a new demo partner, a start-up specialised in solar engineering, SunCrafter from Berlin. This family-owned cleantech business is working on building decentralised off-grid charging stations.

The consortium is led by VITO and comprises partners from all around Europe: Lund University (Sweden), Bern University of Applied Science (Switzerland), IMEC (Belgium), Soli Tek R&D UAB (Lithuania), SNAM (France), CEA Liten (France), Ecopower cvba (Belgium), PV CYCLE a.i.s.b.l. (Belgium), BKW Energie AG (Switzerland), Futech (Belgium), Daidalos Peutz (Belgium), ZABALA Innovation Consulting (Spain), SunCrafter (Germany) and Loser Chemie GmbH (Germany).
