LIFE 2023 Call: CINEA Information Days

The LIFE 2023 call will open in mid-April and will be accessible on the Funding & Tenders Portal. On 25-26 April, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) will organise several virtual information sessions on the LIFE 2023 call. These sessions will guide potential applicants through the LIFE Programme, the proposed calls and the priority themes for 2023.

In addition, there will be virtual networking opportunities and applicants will be able to hold bilateral meetings with CINEA project advisors. Registrations can be made here.

Planned opening and submission dates of the LIFE 2023 call for proposals

• Standard Action Projects (SAPa) for the Circular Economy and Quality of Life, Nature and Biodiversity and Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Sub-programmes. Opening: mid-April – Closing: September 2023.
• LIFE Clean Energy Transition Action Sub-programme. Opening: mid-May – Closing: mid-November 2023.
• Strategic Integrated Projects (SIPs and SNPs). Opening: mid-April – Closing: September 2023.
• Preparation of Technical Assistance for SIPs and SNAP. Opening: mid-April – Closing: September 2023.
• Replication of Technical Assistance. Opening: mid-April – Closing: mid-July 2023.
• Operating grants for non-profit entities (SGA OG), by invitation only to LIFE FPA signatories. Opening: mid-April – Closing: September 2023.
• LIFE Preparatory Projects, addressing Legislative and Policy Priorities on an ad hoc basis. Opening: mid-April – Closing: September 2023.

Funding for eight strategic LIFE 2023 projects

The European Commission has announced an investment of €116 million for strategic LIFE projects in 2023. This funding will help eight major nature, environment and climate action projects to achieve their objectives. The strategic LIFE eCoadapt50 project, presented by Zabala Innovation, will receive €11.6 million to raise awareness of climate change adaptation.

The projects will be implemented in Belgium, Estonia, Spain, Italy, Poland, Slovakia and Finland. The projects are expected to mobilise significant additional funds from other EU funding sources, such as agricultural, structural, regional and research funds, in addition to national funds and private sector investments.
