Cascade Funding: startups meet investors in a mission to Berlin

IRSUS startups have meet investors, corporates and cities during the Smart Country Convention and FIWARE Summit that have been held both in Berlin (23-24th of October).

Some of the Innovation Radar Support Services (IRSUS) companies have enjoyed two of the major events in the field of Smart Cities, and have been part of a mission which have provided them free exposure and also getting to know a number of cities, corporates and investors from the German ecosystem.

IRSUS have been one of the sponsors of the FIWARE Summit this year and have organized a match-making event between VCs, Business Angels, Cities and startups. This has been done under a tight collaboration with the FIWARE Foundation. On Thursday, 24th of October, the Startup Day within the FIWARE Summit, was held with a range of activities only focused to startups.

This is one of the events in which IRSUS is taking their startups to meet different ecosystems across Europe. The range of activities started last July in Madrid, followed by another event in Milan and will have still two more in London and Budapest during the coming weeks.

Startups attending had the chance to participate in a speed-dating style session with different players from the investment arena in Germany.

The startups which took part in the event were: Accelogress, Hopu, KMB Lab, MedMee, OneWatt, Phoops, QISAB, Sports Installations, Comunitaria, Vesputi, and Validated ID.

On the other hand, investors, corporates and cities were: Spinlab Accelerator, Smart Infrastructure Ventures, Deutsche Boerse, Graf Brühl Versicherung, Berlin Partner, Blockpool Accelerator and the City of Malaga.

ZABALA and the startup ecosystem

As outlined in our cascade funding opportunities earlier this month, each program can be a direct or indirect opportunity.

Projects that provide different grants and different services of support, coaching and services are IRSUS (supporting the Innovation Radar of the European Comission), European Data Incubator (EDI), Blockchers, Data Market Services and NGI Explorers. During the FIWARE Summit were presented the next Open Calls of these initiatives. EDI’s call for corporates will remain open until the 29th of November, a great opportunity for corporates as providers of data.
