The study MDNP (Mineral Development Network Platform) aimed to establish a network platform for continuous and structured cooperation on a mutual benefit basis between EU and Latin American authorities, industry, businesses (including SMEs), academia, geological organisations and other relevant entities for the non-energy extractive industries, in the fields of technology, consulting services, infrastructure, investment, trade, training and skills, health and safety, good governance and other relevant areas of the mining value chain (from exploration to mining, rehabilitation and post-closure).
The study involved a comprehensive analysis of the extractive sectors and related technologies and services in each of the target countries, a thorough stakeholders’ mapping exercise, a detailed mapping of the interests and of the various funding instruments available to support cooperation. An EU-LA mining exploration convention and trade show was also organised for all interested stakeholders.
Zabala Innovation developed the contents and architecture of the user-friendly, digital information and knowledge platform, tested its functionalities, ran the maintenance, hosting and management and finally, assessed the mid to long-term sustainability of the platform.
